The Last Man in Japan

Japanese Adults Are Helpless

When foreigners literally cream in their pants gushing with naive love for Japan because they like anime/manga, sushi, and sexy Japanese girls I always laugh to myself. Japan is a real country with real people living here who have SERIOUS problems. Japan is not some amusement park for foreign enjoyment. If anything it is a dystopian paradise for all types of predators. And according to a Japan Times article I just read, Japanese adults are too helpless to do anything about it.

According to the author of the article, Hiroka Ono, young Japanese people can’t communicate with each other despite having high tech cellphones. In fact, Ono makes a keen observation that cell phones are actually creating the distance between people. People are oblivious to everyone else because they are too busy paying attention to their phones instead of relying on their senses to interact with the real world. Thus people are not concerned with other people…..but they really, really should be.

Maybe 2 months ago, a crazy lady in Osaka was arrested for stabbing women getting off the escalator at Osaka Station. She was probably doing this for months maybe even years and just got caught recently. No one is paying any goddamn attention because they are too busy checking out their cellphones. If these chicks would have taken two seconds to put their cell phone away and walk around like a regular human being, they wouldn’t have gotten stabbed because they would have known the lady looked suspicious.

Hiroka says she used to hate her family and had no friends to confide in or trust. She didn’t have anyone to talk to about her problems so she was just tired of living. All around her kids were dropping like flies committing suicide to escape the lameness of their lives. According to Hiroka adults pretend like they care about young people but they don’t do anything to help. They say they don’t know what to do. Hiroka is still optimistic and says she would try to help a friend as much as she can, but the truth is that there is nothing you can do. And in my opinion, adults don’t care and don’t want to help not because they are helpless (which they are) but because they just don’t feel like it. They are too busy checking out their cell phones or buying some expensive Louis Vuitton bag.
