Itasha 痛車

It seems like now is the best time to plaster Ichigo Kurosaki on my whip. Itasha 痛車, anime decorated cars, are gaining immense popularity in Akihabara to the chagrin of most girls and innocent bystanders.

Moesha and itasha seem to be the same thing, but I am not entirely sure that is true. What I do know is that despite itasha’s sporadically rising popularity in Japan, Akihabara is the Kanto region itasha capital.

Since Friday gatherings in Akihabara normally end at around 1 a.m., I am surprised that Danny Choo hasn’t been there to take some good pictures. I know he has been to the Itasha Show though. Maybe he’s too busy so I guess it is up to me to snap some photos when I visit Tokyo next time.

Kimi Kiss キミキス

Kimi Kiss キミキス is a date simulation game for the PS2 which is sort of like an eroge but with much less hardcore porn stuff in it. Since it was released in 2006, it has been made into a manga, anime, and  a novel.

In the game, you are some poor lonely sucker that has never reached first base with a girl evar. Your goal is to run game on 6 beautiful girls who happen to like you. If you are successful, one of the girls will confess her love to you at the school festival and give you a kiss. I guess you have to wait for Kimi Kiss 2: Uncut Raw Reloaded if you want to see what happens next…..

My favorite kimi kiss bitch is Narumi because she can cook and Eriko because she is a cold hearted wench with a high IQ. These are the types of women I like in real life unfortunately for me…..I like women who can either cook or are real bitches. The best combination is both! What do you think about the Kimi Kiss game and anime?

Melty Blood メルティブラッド

Melty Blood is a visual novel and fighting game co-developed by doujin circles Type-Moon and French-Bread. The arcade game, Act Cardenza, has also been ported to Sony Playstation 2. Melty Blood is actually a sequel to Type-Moon’s visual novel game Tsukihime (Moon Princess) which has occasional hentai scenes. A manga version of Melty Blood is also available, but I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet.

Melty Blood is a Capcom vs. SNK type fighter. The game and background stages are presented in a 640×480 pseudo-3D environment, with 2D overlaying art and character sprites. The characters look smooth and beautiful when they fight. Melty Blood is on par with the sick animation of the Guilty Gear series and maybe even better.

If you like combos, then you should play Melty Blood. You can chain 50 hit combinations just by chaining various attacks and special moves. I have only played the game a few times and each time I get my ass whupped by some jackass who’s good with Miyako or Nanaya.

I can’t really call this a video game review because I haven’t sunk my teeth into the game yet, but I loved it so much even for the few times I played it. If you play it religiously and want to share some stories or if you have played Tsukihime, hit me back and let me know what you think.

Dude Where’s My Nendroid?

Nendroids ねんどろいど are small anime figurines usually based on popular anime characters in chibi (small) form. I want to start collecting figures soon, so I guess the best place to start are nendroids because they are small and easy to maintain. They also look pretty sturdy. Mikuru, Haruhi, and Yuki are some of the best looking nendroids. Looks like it’s time to get my figure collecting on.

Candy Girl Dolls

This is not a real girl....

Candy Girl dolls are a line of sex dolls made by Orient Industries which are a ridonkulously popular in Japan. As you can see from the photo, Candy Girls are incredibly life like putting them in the same class as the American life size sex dolls called Real Doll.

If you want to get down with a Candy Girl girlfriend, all you have to do is pay 640,000 yen or around $7,000.  You can customize your Candy Girl with different hair types, clothes, and even boobies because they are made with real silicon (wow, they really went there!)

Looking at this Candy Girl photo has me swimming in reality juice (meaning I am shocked) Before long, there are going to be sexbots like in A.I. Hey if those sexbots look and feel like a real human…..nah! Check out Orient Industries homepage and the Doll Forum if you got that Candy Girl doll fever…..

Reality Lolicon

It seems that Japan lolicon is under attack. Japanese authorities are starting to crackdown on lolicon and the child gravure business. Japan might have child pornography laws, but they have been incredibly lax. From 2006-2007 alone, over 3 million child gravure photo books have been sold.

But the Japan police are striking back. The police have already shut down a child gravure photo shoot starring a school girl dressed in a really tight-fitting see through swimsuit. Even though these photo shoots aren’t pornography the Japan police is obviously issuing a warning to the lolicon industry. Japan police are also cracking down on lolicon merchandise.

While the lolicon 2D and child gravure business are still going strong, people who like lolicon should definitely be worried. It seems that in the future, more manga will be labeled as “harmful books”. Props to OtakuGen for the interesting info.

Eroge エロゲ

Eroge エロゲ are Japanese video and computer games that have erotic content. They usually feature anime style artwork. My first encounter with eroge was once again in Osaka. I spend hours in Nihonbashi looking for cheap video games and kaizokuban (my Japanese slang term for bootleg dvds) One day I was in Softmap looking for the computer game section. I took the escalator up to what I thought was the correct floor. I got off the escalator and took a look around…..I was obviously on the wrong floor because there were half naked pictures of anime girls posted on the walls.

I decided to take a look around because this was a new experience for me. I looked at some of the game boxes and magazines. Most of the eroge I saw were animated sex simulations with a story line. At first I felt embarrassed because I was looking at this stuff, but no one really seemed to care. After strolling around for a while, I left that floor and went on to my original destination.

When the Fate/stay night fighting game came out and I found out that it is based on an eroge, I realized that the eroge industry is a means instead of a goal. The eroge industry must be weakening. Talented writers and artists can create their own novels and anime. Why make an eroge that is confines characters to typical sexual relationships? That is like Dan Brown writing erotic novels……What do you think? Check out the Fate/stay night video after the jump.

Doujin 同人

The Japanese term doujin is used to refer to amateur self-published manga, art, and other works. Sometimes professional artists participate in doujin in order to create published material outside the regular publishing industry.

My first encounter with doujin was at a doujin convention at Intex, which is like the Jacob Javits Center of Osaka. Since I stay in Nanko when I visit Osaka, I am very close to the Osaka World Trade Center and Intex. My on again off again girl buddy (like a girlfriend but without the commitment thing) and I decided to check it out because we saw the flyers for it in Nanko.

First, let me explain how we made a mistake. We thought we were going to a manga convention, but it was actually a doujin convention for girls. Most of the people there were Japanese girls who were selling their own doujin art and manga. I saw doujin manga for manga like Full Metal Alchemist and Naruto. Even though I was a real big black guy walking around checking out doujin stuff having no clue what I was looking at, I enjoyed my time there because all the girls were nice and the art was fantastic.

If you are in Japan, check out a doujin convention. The one I went to had nothing but women there, so it was great. Make sure you check out each booth or table. Get your freak on by reading some adult manga. I didn’t talk to any women because my girl buddy was there, but I hope I get the chance to go to one alone sometime. Is a doujin convention a great place to meet Japanese girls? I think so, but don’t expect to meet any idols there. Some of the girls were decked out in cosplay. There were actually signs outside of Intex and on the flyers that said no cosplay, but I guess some of the girls didn’t care. If you want a Japanese otaku girlfriend, then a doujin convention is right up your alley. I got the doujin image from Brian Andrew. Maybe I should make my own manga called Black Japan Man. What do you guys think?

Lolicon ロリコン

Lolicon ロリコン means lolita complex in Japanese. Both anime and manga have lolicon works that focus on taboo relationships between teacher and student or brother and sister. Some even have sexual experimentation with children….It is a widespread phenomenon in Japan that is heavily criticized, but it is still around. Japanese dudes like lolicon stuff because they like younger girls. The “kawaii” or “cute” style is uber popular in Japan. Younger girls are seen as the most “kawaii” so some Japanese men are infatuated with them.

If you are a Japan newbie, get used to seeing lolicon images, manga, anime, movies, and other related stuff everywhere. Don’t panic or freak out because you will embarrass yourself and other Japanese people around you. Instead, just pretend like you don’t see it. Mentally block it out of your head if it bothers you. If it doesn’t bother you or you like it, then you will fit right in…..
